I.S.H. is the only internationally accredited school for children of expatriates in Havana that offers education through the medium of the English language.
As you will see, we have a unique and charming campus with student play areas and purpose built classrooms and other facilities, such as Computer Laboratories and Library in addition to classrooms in the older original houses.
We currently enrol some 190 students from 41 nationalities in a warm, caring environment with small class sizes (average teacher pupil ratio is 1:7). We offer challenging and demanding academic programmes from the Early Years (Age 2 ½) to Grade 12 (Pre-University graduation).
I.S.H. is accredited by C.I.S. [The Council of International Schools] and N.E.A.S.C. [New England Association of Schools and Colleges] from the Early Years Programme to Grade 12. We are also authorised by the International Baccalaureate Organisation to teach the I.B. Diploma programme to students in Grades 11 and 12 and are a C.I.E. Fellowship Centre and use their internationally recognised I.G.C.S.E. [International General Certificate of Secondary Education] programme for Grades 9 and 10; Checkpoint for Grade 8 and also their TESOL English Language Suite.
Our younger learners follow the International Primary Curriculum (I.P.C.) which has themed Units of Enquiry which are supported by courses in Music, Art, Drama, P.E. and Information Technology and there are also core courses in English, Mathematics and Spanish.
The school is a progressive institution and remains closely linked to the various international educational institutions of which it is a member.
The principles underlying everything we do are enshrined in the School Mission, Philosophy and Objectives Statement and we use it and our vision of the I.S.H. of the future as a guide and as a support point for all that we do.
