** The New School Year 2007-2008 **
I am looking forward to another exciting year at the I.S.H. and as always I want to encourage all parents to involve themselves as fully as possible in the academic experience of the students and the life of the school in general.

New Layout of Play Area
The new layout in Phase I of the plan to maximise the use of the Play Area has been completed. In response to parental observations on the limitations of the campus for teaching P.E. a new area has been created that will allow a regulation size volleyball court to be used for Volleyball and other activities.
New Students
Once again, a large number of new students have joined the I.S.H. community. Families from almost every continent are joining us including North America, Africa, Asia, Europe and South America . Please welcome the new students and their families.
Parent Teacher Association
The P.T.A. Executive Committee will be holding its first meeting of the 2007-2008 academic year on September 4.
School Fees
May I respectfully remind all parents that school fees are due on the first day of each school term. Invoices for this term were distributed in June but if you need a replacement please just ask the Finance Office staff.
Please make arrangements to settle your account promptly. Those families that receive financial assistance of any kind at all, are reminded that prompt settlement of the parental portion of fees is required no later than the end of the 30 day grace period the school permits. For this term the cut off date is September 30, 2007.
Summer Camp 2007
Thanks to all the families that supported the Summer Camp. The children really enjoyed the wonderfully varied programme of activities available to them. We feel that it is a great way of getting to know people for those new arrivals in Havana . I encourage everyone to take advantage of this annual opportunity to get involved with the school beyond the normal academic year.
Parent Student Handbooks
The 2007-2008 Parent Student Handbook is available for distribution immediately. I am hoping that most parents will, for ecological protection reasons, opt to receive an electronic copy by eMail. Please ensure that the school Registrar's Office: office@ish.co.cu has your email address and is advised that you wish to receive your copy in this way.
If you are unable or unwilling to receive this and other documentation electronically, please advise the Registrar's Office so that a paper copy can be provided for you. Please note that in the past the school, for unknown technical reasons, has had difficulty with electronic communications directed to local subscribers registered to "enet.cu". Please accept our apologies in advance if this problem prevents you receiving school communications.
Have a wonderful year with us here in Havana .
Ian Morris
Principal
