SCIENCE FAIR

The Science Fair is an event run by the Science Department each year in order to promote science and environmental awareness within the school. The whole school participates in this event, and either students give individual projects or collaborate in groups in order to create projects. The main aim for students in to create something which is usually related to sustainable development within our society; for example finding an alternative source of energy apart from gas or electricity to boil water.

Group assignments are given out about a week or two before the event itself which is usually held in March. Groups use this time to come up with an idea for a project with their teacher supervisor, requesting materials and equipment that they will need on the day of the Science Fair to implement their creations. About half a school day is devoted to the Science Fair, giving groups time to assemble their projects and having them running by the time a panel of judges comes to grade their projects according to specific criterion according to the objectives. Winners are then announced in the next assembly, and the prizes are divided between secondary and primary school as the two sections of the school do this event separately.
