INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY

International Women’s Day is a worldwide recognized event celebrated on the 8th of March annually. This event started as a political event, having its origins in the Russian Revolution when women were demanding an end to World War I and took to the streets in protest. Nowadays the event is officially meant to celebrate the economic, political and social achievements of women, and to raise awareness of the continuing struggles of women worldwide to attain better political and human rights.

In our school this event is recognized because it promotes the values of equality which the International School of Havana supports. In our traditional way the event is marked by an assembly, celebrating and applauding the accomplishments of remarkable women throughout the years who worked hard to bring about equality, and highlighting the inequalities that women in parts of the world still go through today and the importance to resolve this issue.
