| International Women's Day | FAMILY DAY Family Day is a school created event designed to promote sharing time together as families despite perhaps busy schedules and the idea of little families within the big family of the community that can all spend time together. This event is usually held in the month of May, and most of the time of the Friday. The main way of celebrating this idea is through an extended lunch period, called Family Fun Day where students’ invite their families to school to share lunch together. The event was originally the Family Nature Walk which has been abandoned for the past couple of years due to bad weather and has gradually evolved into the Family Day Lunch. Lunch on the day is provided by different food stations; the Grades 4 and 5 always run a milkshake stall, while teachers run a barbeque and different PTA members and other parents bring in food to sell. There are also games and activities such as face painting, sports, sponging teachers, and music. This day gives an opportunity not only for families to spend time together in a relaxing way, but also gives the chance of interacting with other families and the community as a whole. The International School of Havana does not boast extraordinarily large number of students but we do boast a tight-knit community, which this Family Fun Day does promote.
