ENVIRONMENT DAY

World Environment Day was created by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972, and is hosted every year in a different city and commemorated with an international exposition through the week of the 5th of June. This event aims to stimulate awareness of the environment and increase political and public action.

It is important for our school to celebrate this day so as to recognize that there are issues with the environment, and we need to protect it. We celebrate this event by an assembly which informs us not only of the current environmental situation but highlights courses of actions we could take now and in the future to reduce our impact on the environment and pave the way for sustainable development. Other activities can involve cleaning beaches by the IB CAS program, or creating recyclable toys in the primary school, but as usual vary every year according to their organizers of the event.
