We are an extraordinary school, in a fascinating country.
The school is fully accredited by the Council of International Schools (C.I.S.) and N.E.A.S.C. (New England Association of Schools and Colleges).
Life at the school offers a unique perspective and insight into life on the island as a whole and particularly on the fascinating city of Havana.
Our website offers you the opportunity to research our academic programmes if you are interested in selecting a school for your child(ren) - there is detailed curriculum information about both the Lower School syllabi and those of the Secondary Section. You will see that we offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma and the I.S.H. Graduation Diploma Programmes for students in Grades 11 and 12 as well as the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (I.G.C.S.E.) for students in Grades 9 and 10. Lower School students are able to learn through the International Primary curriculum course as well as literacy and numeracy classes and specialist subject courses as well that are based upon the standards of the national Curriculum of England. The Early Years grade levels in Lower School are housed in the brand new Early Years Learning Centre just a few minutes walk from the main campus.
Information is also available to all about the activities going on in the school beyond the classrooms through our newsletter The Weekly.
The School Mission, Philosophy and Objectives Statements guide what we do on a day to day operational basis while our vision of the I.S.H. of the future is also a support point for our ongoing strategic view of school development and improvement.
If you are a teacher considering a new position, there is information on positions available and how to make application to the school while if you are simply browsing, you will find a lot of information about the school, the students, the teachers, and our host country.
For many of us, the school is a home away from home and is the focus of life here in Havana.
Many of the parents that make up our community body devote extensive amounts of time to assisting the school and thereby offering a richer experience for the children both academically and in Extra Curricular Activities. The Parent Teacher Association (P.T.A.) provides much support for both students' learning as well as social activities for the wider community.
As a School we aim to positively influence the lives of the young people that become our students, so profoundly that they will never forget the experience of being a student at the International School of Havana.
