The Six Areas of Learning for the Early Years Programme

1. Personal, Social and Emotional Development
   

   I am learning to negotiate plans and possessions peacefully with peers and adults responde to instructions play willingly with other children adapt to an environment outside the home

   
   
2. Language, Communication and Literacy
   

   I am learning to recognise, explore and be imaginative about sounds, letters and words listen and respond to stories communicate effectively with my peers and adults (needs,feelings) read and write emergently



3. Numeracy
   

   I am beginning to count to 13 understand that a number stays the same no matter how it is represented recognise and make different sets compare size, weight, height and volume reason and make logical estimates measure using my hands/feet conceptualise addition and subtraction



4. Physical Development (P.E.)
   

   I am learning to catch a ball; throw, roll a ball to a partner shoot a goal dress,undress,take my shoes off and put them on sew, thread beads skip with a rope use a hoop in different ways kick a ball effectively



5. Creative Development - Art
   

   I am learning to express my imagination in different ways experiment with a variety of Art materials, explore colour, texture

   
   
   Creative Development - Music
   

   I am learning to respond to different music in different ways experiment with a variety of musical instruments perform in front of an audience

6. Knowledge and Understanding of the World (including I.T.)
   

   		I am curious about the environment: its wonders noticing and recognising change learning by discovery noticing that my friends speak different languages, eat different food and think differently from me sometimes getting to know who does what around me at school
   		I am learning to use the computer mouse effectively explore different kinds of software related to each Early Years theme.
