Geography and Weather

  • Climate is subtropical. Winter (November to April) is dry with daytime temperatures in the mid to high 20s(Celsius). Rain is sporadic and associated with the arrival of a northerly weather front. Summers (May to October) are hot and humid with temperatures around and over 30. In Summer, late afternoon torrential rains might occur almost daily. There are approximately 330 sunny days a year.
  • Cuba is affected by hurricanes or tropical storms. In Cuba there is an advanced and specialised meteorological system, as well as a Civil Protection System, capable of efficiently protecting the life of Cuban citizens and visitors in case of a hurricane. Warnings about the current location and forecast of a tropical storm are transmited by national television and radio systems.
